Laura Beth Secari, one of the youngest professionals on the Long Island Horse Show Scene. She says, “ I love what I do!” about teaching and coaching students of all ages. She especially loves watching students develop not only in the effectiveness of their riding, but evolve in life as well through this experience. These life lessons will serve them their entire lives no matter the career path they eventually pursue.
Laura Beth teaches students her own philosophy: ride with your all and the ribbons will follow. She points out how you should always be properly prepared mentally and physically. She helps her students understand that “every horse is different and you cant ride them all the same.” She emphasizes to her students how important it is to develop an ability to adjust your riding to each horse because they are not going to adjust to you! She strives to bring out her students full potential.
Laura Beth’s experience comes from a lifetime of competing herself, starting at the age of two years old. By the age of three, she kicked off her winning career when she won the Leadline at the Hampton Classic. As a junior she enjoyed catch riding ponies and horses for many top professionals. Laura Beth qualified for the Medal Finals, USET, Sport Horse Nationals, New England Equitation Finals, Pony Finals, Harrisburg, and Devon. She has been Champion or Reserve and Best Child Rider in the hunters, jumpers, and equitation divisions at many of these shows. Laura Beth still ambitiously shows in both the hunters and jumpers.
Her mother, Carol Lee Secari, A School Teacher by education, but a Riding instructor by Passion began teaching in Virginia and followed her dream back to Long Island along with young ponies and students including both her daughters. As a professional in the business for many years she has started many of our top riders/trainers on the circuit. Carol Lee works on starting out the adult & children for LCF, giving them a strong foundation & horsemanship skills. She has a unique way of working with children that makes even the most shy child become extremely confident & out going. Carol Lee makes learning fun and while they are having fun they learn to be little equestrians. One of her past students that is a trainer at large show barn now said that Carol Lee,"Is the best trainer for posting trot through the pony hunters. I do not have to fix any bad habits because I never learned any from the beginning." We at LCF are very lucky to have Carol Lee to start the next generation of riders. We often call her "Sunshine" because she is always happy and she has a way of making everyone feel better.
Laura Beth & Carol Lee, still working as a mother and daughter team the they both continue to bring students to meet there full potential in the show ring.
